The Industry Voice
Oil & Gas UK is the industry’s only trade association that speaks for companies that are both the principal employers and investors in our sector. This gives us the strongest voice in putting forward the industry’s case for regulatory or legislative change which can improve the UK business environment. Membership of Oil & Gas UK gives you the opportunity to influence what is being said.
We have extensive contacts across all levels of government in Westminster, Holyrood and the EU. Oil & Gas UK Board members provide the industry representation in PILOT, the government industry forum chaired by the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change.
We also engage with government agencies, all the industry’s main trade associations, trade unions, NGOs and other organisations with a stake in the industry’s future, as well as with the public through the media, in all its forms.
Research and Intelligence
With membership across a spectrum of companies, Oil & Gas UK is the definitive source of information about the activities of the offshore oil and gas industry in the UK.
In-house and independent research, studies and other projects provide industry analysis, trends and forecasts while Oil & Gas UK’s annual Activity Survey and Economic Report have become benchmarks for the industry and are widely used by members and policy makers in government.
The association is the principal stakeholder in the DEAL website, an important source of industry information which includes a register of UKCS wells, seismic surveys, licences and offshore infrastructure as well as a comprehensive directory of UKCS exploration and production data available from third parties. The site also makes information about investment opportunities (licences, infrastructure and assets) as widely available as possible, and provides a platform for other Oil & Gas UK services, including fishing safety and infrastructure integrity systems. DEAL is managed for Oil & Gas UK by its subsidiary, Common Data Access Limited (CDA).
Oil & Gas UK’s quarterly newsletter, Wireline, and its monthly e-newsletter, keeps members up to speed with the association’s activities and events. Our website attracts over 80,000 visitors a month and as a member you will also have access to the information, reports, guidelines and online forums on our extranet, as well as updates on policy issues, government consultations, regulatory developments and other activities.
