Cross Party Group

Introduction

The Oil & Gas Cross Party Group meets throughout the year at the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh. Its membership comprises Members of the Scottish Parliament (MSPs) and interested organisations and individuals. The purpose of the Group is to provide a platform for parliamentarians to:

  • Discuss all issues relating to the structure of the oil and gas industry
  • Raise specific issues of concern with the Scottish Executive and the industry itself
  • Promote innovation in offshore engineering
  • Encourage greater recognition of the importance of the oil and gas industry to the UK
  • Support the use of offshore technology and skills in the development and production of renewable energy

The Group organises:

  • Topical meetings with Ministers and key industry spokespeople
  • Regular written briefings
  • Visits to sites of interest, including offshore platforms

Co-conveners

There are four co-conveners:

  • Lewis Macdonald MSP - Labour
  • Nanette Milne MSP - Conservative
  • Tavish Scott MSP - Liberal Democrat
  • Maureen Watt MSP - SNP
