The UK offshore oil and gas industry is one of Britain’s most successful industrial sectors. Indigenous oil and gas production satisfies 55% of our nation’s energy needs, and attracts expenditure of around £14 billion annually. This year the industry is expected to generate £9.3 billion in direct taxation to the Treasury. It also supports jobs for almost half a million people across the country and the industry is fast developing the reputation as a global provider of oilfield goods and services.
This is a vital industry that, with an estimated 24 billion barrels of oil and gas still to recover from the seabed around the British Isles, has a vital future. That future will require increasing focus on high risk, technically and commercially challenging developments, including high pressure high temperature opportunities and heavy oil. It will require fresh thinking, new approaches and the brightest talents.
Oil & Gas UK, as the leading trade association for the UK offshore oil and gas industry, is at the vanguard of many industry initiatives to improve the UKCS business environment, to attract investment and enhance its safety performance. Oil & Gas UK Examining Doctors ConferenceThe Examining Doctors Conference will take place on 7 March at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre and will focus on 'reseach in practice'. This event regularly attracts up to 100 registered doctors worldwide. There will also be an evening reception on Tuesday 6 March at the Aberdeen Maritime Museum which will give delegates the chance to network with other examining doctors attending the conference. |
