The UK Oil and Gas Supply Chain - a jewel in the crown!
Secretary of State for Scotland, the Rt Hon Jim Murphy MP, was the principal speaker at the Oil & Gas UK Supply Chain Conference. The conference took place on Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre. It was an event with a difference in that it was been developed by the industry for the industry and attracted over 230 delegates from both within and outside the oil and gas sector.
The event examined the compelling case for a long term sustainable supply chain anchored in the UK - serving the UK but also as a centre of excellence for export. A strong speaker line-up was been secured, comprising high profile senior executives from a broad range of supply chain organisations across the sector. Additionally, conference delegates will hear about best practice from other sectors including construction and government.
Delegates heard about:
- The opportunities and challenges for the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS) oil and gas supply chain
- The enormous contribution that the UKCS supply chain makes to the economy and the importance to the supply chain of the global export business
- What needs to be done to encourage stability, sustainability and investment in the supply chain, and key stakeholders in achieving that objective
- Contemporary supply chain business models which complement sustainability, and how we combine a sustainable UKCS supply chain with a significant export business drive to support global oil and gas activity
- Best practice methodology - from both within and outside the sector
- The cutting edge supply chain practices being promoted in the UKCS, to streamline and make supply chain activity more efficient and cost effective
- Cross industry learning and best practice
The conference also had an interactive element where delegates were able to ask questions and discuss key points during panel sessions with the speakers.
