The search was on for the outstanding people and companies helping to make the UK oil and gas industry one of the safest in the world.
Step Change in Safety and Oil & Gas UK were looking for entries to the 2012 safety awards, which were created to acknowledge exceptional contributions to safety.

** NEW FOR 2012** The Ideas in Safety Prizeawarded to an individual and/or team working on a UKCS offshore facility who have developed an original idea for improving safety in the workplace focusing on hydrocarbon leak reduction. The prize is designed to showcase the outstanding contribution to safety being made by members of the industry's workforce. |

In addition, a special award will be presented for Services to Safety, chosen by the Step Change in Safety Co-Chairs.This award recognises an outstanding contribution by an individual towards the Step Change in Safety vision; to make the UK the safest place to work in the worldwide oil and gas industry. |

The winners of the Awards were announced at the UK Oil and Gas Industry Safety Awards lunch on 18 April at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre.
Winners received a specially commissioned medal by contemporary sculptor Marian Fountain and the winner of the Ideas in Safety Prize received a cheque for £5,000!
