Events

Our workshops which are run in Aberdeen and London are aimed at a wide selection of industry professionals all of whom require updates or training on a specific industry development, product or initiative.
Each workshop is developed with the needs of delegates in mind, typically with a class size of around 20 people if held in our offices, or up to 60 if held externally. The half day workshops include presentations, case studies and the opportunity to discuss the topic with peers within the industry.

The courses began when 12 were held in 2010 and a further 7 in 2011.

Supply Chain Solutions Workshop
Recent years have seen several changes in how the upstream oil and gas industry contracts across its supply chain. The development of the model ITTs and LOGIC contracts and the work of FPAL have played a major part in driving down costs and streamlining the process of tendering and contracting. Many new operators and suppliers have entered the supply chain and existing organisations have recruited new personnel. Ensuring that experience gained so far is passed on through training is essential in maintaining the cost effectiveness and efficiency of the supply chain.
For this reason Oil & Gas UK is conducting workshops in both Aberdeen and London which aim to provide an introduction to supply chain practices to professionals who are new to their role, or to the oil and gas sector. These workshops will provide an opportunity to hear from peers within industry who are already using the Model ITTs and LOGIC Forms of Contract to great success. The events have been developed in specific response to industry demand for training on the use and practical application of model contractual supply chain solutions which encourage more efficient and streamlined working practices.
Delegates will include contracts, procurement and sales personnel, legal advisors, project engineers and supply chain practitioners from operator and contractor purchaser organisations.
The half day workshop sessions will be highly interactive with a focus on the practical application of tools and solutions, and will cover:
- Model contractual solutions - what is available and why they were developed
- Prequalification - FPAL internet supply chain database
- Model ITTs and LOGIC Model Forms of Contract - purpose, benefits, and how to use them in practice
- Client and Contractor/Supplier performance measurement and tiered compliance with the Supply Chain Code of Practice

Master Deed Training Workshops
This half-day training session is an excellent opportunity for legal, para-legal and commercial managers involved in asset transfers in the UKCS to learn more about Master Deed.
The Master Deed, launched in 2003, is a standard documentation process which encourages more efficient licence transactions for all companies operating in the UK oil and gas industry. The initiative has proved extremely popular with new entrants investing in the North Sea, with strong support from the entire offshore industry and currently has over 260 companies signed up.
Forthcoming Master Deed Workshop:
There is currently no Master Deed Workshop scheduled. Please register your interest fir future workshops by e-mailing events@oilandgasuk.co.uk
ICOP Training Workshops
During the latter part of 2008 Oil & Gas UK, in conjunction with DECC/BERR ran a series of ICOP training sessions for Code of Practice Champions and commercial and legal negotiators who are likely to be involved in third party access to infrastructure, as a user or an owner representative. This followed a series of PILOT work group sessions involving a wide range of companies that reviewed the 2004 Infrastructure Code of Practice, ICOP, and generated a set of guidance notes to help foster a common understanding about the code and help companies (on both sides of the table) comply and get the most benefit from its use.
Prior knowledge of the Infrastructure Code of Practice is not a pre-requisite in registering for the ICOP training sessions, however some background reading would be beneficial. Information on the ICOP, its intent and principles along with details of previous reviews and workgroups can be found on the Oil & Gas UK website by clicking here.
It is intended that further ICOP Workshops be run later in 2012, register your interest by emailing events@oilandgasuk.co.uk
Standard Agreement Workshops
Oil & Gas UK recently unveiled a suite of model agreements to help companies conclude deals quickly and efficiently, providing a valuable tool for the UK oil and gas industry to reduce costs and maintain competitiveness in the economic slowdown. The documents will help simplify procedures and reduce costs in several areas of oil and gas operations, including asset transfer, gaining access to infrastructure and in building new pipelines.
The series of workshops is now complete, however if there is deemed to be enough interest Oil & Gas UK may contemplate running further workshops of this nature.
