Introduction

Influencing governments and policy makers is an important part of Oil & Gas UK’s day to day work.  Our legislators set the framework in which our industry must work including licensing, taxation and regulations relating to health and safety and the environment.

As part of our regular activity, Oil & Gas UK monitors what is going on in the Westminster, Holyrood and European Parliaments, responds to government consultations, gives evidence to Parliamentary committees when requested, meets regularly with Ministers, maintains day to day contacts with key government officials (civil servants) and works closely with the members of Parliament (MPs), Scottish Parliament (MSPs) and European Parliament (MEPs) who have a strong constituency interest or are otherwise connected to offshore oil and gas and energy policy issues.

Oil & Gas UK is pleased to provide the ongoing support for the Oil and Gas Groups at both Holyrood and Westminster. We also produce a regular public affairs newsletter which gives an update on the work we undertake on behalf of Oil & Gas UK members.
