Oil & Gas UK Evidence Review

We have recently commissioned a study, the Oil & Gas UK Evidence Review, of the vast array of reports, studies and surveys concerning the interaction of exploration / production activities with the environment. The output from the review will serve four principal purposes:

  • Improved communication: to promote the activities of Oil & Gas UK and to inform and educate stakeholders on environmental issues
  • Lobbying: The intent of OSPAR and EU strategies has been interpreted to mean zero discharges and no activity in conservation areas. The review will be used in evidence to challenge the basis for such prescriptive approaches.
  • Environmental Impact Assessments: The review will allow operators to quote any evidence obtained in an EIA rather than having to repeat previous work.
  • Gap analysis: This will essentially seek answers to close knowledge gaps and assess issues that might become potential problems. From the gap analysis the intention is to develop an appropriately funded programme of research and monitoring.

This area of the website will be further populated once the Evidence Review gets underway

Another useful source of environmental assessment data, Strategic Environmental Assessments (SEA) is available via the DEAL website; http://www.ukdeal.co.uk/portal/page?_pageid=456,1067222&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL
