Offshore workers travel to and from oil and gas installations by helicopter. It is vital that the industry constantly monitors and works to improve helicopter safety.

After the helicopter crash on 1 April 2009, the Helicopter Task Group (HTG) worked to address cross-industry issues around helicopter safety. Information on the work of the HTG is available in this section of the website.
In August 2010, aviation safety work was transferred to Step Change in Safety's Helicopter Safety Steering Group.
In September 2011, the Air Accidents Investigation Branch published its report into the ditching of the helicopter carrying workers to the ETAP platform in February 2009.
