Supply Chain CoP
Introduction
The Supply Chain Code of Practice (SCCoP) is a set of best practice guidelines which aims to help ensure an efficient supply chain and reduce waste. You can order a hard copy of the SCCoP here or download the PDFs by clicking here.
Related initiatives
Several initiatives are run alongside the SCCoP to increase its effectiveness. The popular annual PILOT Share Fair has helped make companies' buying plans more transparent to potential suppliers. First Point Assessment Ltd (FPAL) provides a database of shared information on supplier and purchaser details and credentials.

Compliance
The 2008 compliance survey showed while the general attitude towards the SCCoP remained positive, there had been a notable relaxation in compliance with the best practice guidelines. This may have been due in part to stretched resources and rising costs throughout the industry. Therefore, in November 2008, a new tiered system of compliance was launched to promote continuous progression as far as is practically possible and achievable within the boundaries of companies’ corporate constraints.
In 2009, it was brought to Oil & Gas UK’s attention that 30 day payment terms, as set out in the SCCoP, were not typically being achieved. With the advent of electronic invoicing and efforts to address the issue, the 2010 survey of compliance with the SCCoP, which was answered by 150 companies, found that over the past 18 months, the situation had improved. Payment terms will continue to be monitored as part of the annual SCCoP survey.
