Common Data Access (CDA)

Common Data Access Limited (CDA) is a not-for-profit, wholly-owned subsidiary of Oil & Gas UK. CDA represents a collection of more than 50 UK continental shelf (UKCS) licensees who between them are responsible for:
- 94% of UKCS production
- 95% of all UKCS wells
- 91% of all (proprietary) UKCS seismic surveys
The CDA DataStore holds digital well data for 10,000 UKCS wells and seismic data for 1,000 surveys – all available online. CDA is the industry’s focal point for data management and works very closely with the Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC) on regulatory matters.
CDA plays its part with the rest of industry to sustain the UKCS and to keep it competitive relative to other provinces around the world. The organisation is recognised internationally as a key component of the UK’s National Data Repository (NDR), and along with Norway’s DISKOS, as the leading example of how to establish and manage a NDR.
