Helicopter Task Group
The now-disbanded Helicopter Task Group was created to address cross-industry issues around helicopter safety, including those arising from the fatal helicopter crash off the north-east coast of Scotland on 1 April 2009.
Represented on the task group were companies directly involved in the fatal accident, Oil & Gas UK's Board or Council, the offshore workforce, helicopter operator companies, Grampian Police and trade unions.
Its purpose was to act on behalf of the industry as a communications focal point for sharing information, advice and learning across the industry and with other stakeholders on matters arising from this and other helicopter accidents, including assisting with the implementation of any recommendations from the Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) inquiries.
A summary of the HTG's work is available here. Aviation safety issues are now dealt with by Step Change in Safety's Helicopter Safety Steering Group.
