Oil & Gas UK Workshops

Our workshops which are run in Aberdeen and London are aimed at a wide selection of industry professionals all of whom require updates or training on a specific industry development, product or initiative.

Each workshop is developed with the needs of delegates in mind, typically with a class size of around 20 people. the half day workshops include presentations, case studies and the opportunity to discuss the topic with peers within the industry.

Further information will be available regarding the 2010 calendar of events shortly.

In 2009, a variety of workshops were run by Oil & Gas UK, each of which is detailed below.
Forthcoming Oil & Gas UK Workshops and Master Classes:

ICOP Training Workshops

During the latter part of 2008 Oil & Gas UK, in conjunction with DECC/BERR ran a series of ICOP training sessions for Code of Practice Champions and commercial and legal negotiators who are likely to be involved in third party access to infrastructure, as a user or an owner representative. This followed a series of PILOT work group sessions involving a wide range of companies that reviewed the 2004 Infrastructure Code of Practice, ICOP, and generated a set of guidance notes to help foster a common understanding about the code and help companies (on both sides of the table) comply and get the most benefit from its use.

Prior knowledge of the Infrastructure Code of Practice is not a pre-requisite in registering for the ICOP training sessions, however some background reading would be beneficial.  Information on the ICOP, its intent and principles along with details of previous reviews and workgroups can be found on the Oil & Gas UK website by clicking here.

The series of workshops is now complete, however if there is deemed to be enough interest Oil & Gas UK may contemplate running further workshops of this nature.

Model Contractual Supply Chain Solutions Workshops

The upstream oil and gas industry is currently experiencing the impact of extreme oil price volatility coupled with economic uncertainty. As a result, many players in the sector see adverse changes in working practices and behaviors coupled with contractual tensions.

Against the backdrop of these challenges, Oil & Gas UK is running a series of half day workshops to encourage a more supportive business philosophy from end user clients cascading down through all stages of the supply chain.

These workshops, which take place both in London and Aberdeen, have been developed in response to industry demand for training and general awareness on the use and practical application of model contractual supply chain solutions in the sector to encourage more efficient and streamlined working practices during challenging times.

The half day workshop sessions will be highly interactive with a focus on the practical application of tools and solutions and will cover:

  • Model contractual solutions - why they were developed and what is available

  • Prequalification - front end of the process (FPAL internet supply chain database)

  • Model ITTs & model forms of contract - purpose, benefits, how to use them in practice

  • Client & contractor/supplier performance measurement & tiered compliance with the Supply Chain Code of Practice

The series of workshops is now complete, however if there is deemed to be enough interest Oil & Gas UK may contemplate running further workshops of this nature.

Standard Agreement Workshops

Oil & Gas UK recently unveiled a suite of model agreements to help companies conclude deals quickly and efficiently, providing a valuable tool for the UK oil and gas industry to reduce costs and maintain competitiveness in the economic slowdown. The documents will help simplify procedures and reduce costs in several areas of oil and gas operations, including asset transfer, gaining access to infrastructure and in building new pipelines.

The series of workshops is now complete, however if there is deemed to be enough interest Oil & Gas UK may contemplate running further workshops of this nature.
