Oil & Gas UK Welcomes Themes of Scottish Strategy for UK Oil and Gas Industry
Welcoming the launch of the Oil & Gas Industry Leadership Group’s strategy for the long-term future of the oil and gas industry in Scotland, David Ripley, Oil & Gas UK’s supply chain director, said: “Oil & Gas UK welcomes the Industry Leadership Group’s clear vision of maximising recovery of the UK’s oil and gas and ensuring that Scotland’s competitive advantage in the support services sector is sustained. The direction offered in ways to achieve this vision – through industry-led innovation, strenghtening the supply chain both domestically and internationally and enhancing the skills base – is very helpful.
“The oil and gas supply chain is the most important industrial sector in Scotland and is increasingly successful in exporting its products and services to provinces around the world. As this international activity grows and domestic production declines, we must ensure that the related technology and skills remain anchored in Scotland and indeed, across the UK. We agree wholeheartedly with the Industry Leadership Group that the way to do this is to ensure the North Sea continues to be viewed as an attractive long-term investment location.
“We look forward to seeing the list of proposed actions required to deliver the strategy. We will actively encourage our members to participate to make sure the vision of a long-term prosperous sector is realised.”
