The Oil & Gas UK Directorate
Chief Executive
The chief executive is a member of the Board of Oil & Gas UK and hence a member
of PILOT. He is also chairman of CDA and a director of OPITO The Oil & Gas
Academy.
Policy Directorates
Operations
The operations directorate delivers solutions to increase the efficiency and
lifespan of operations on the UK continental shelf, while ensuring overall
integrity. The operations team develops and implements policy on licensing,
exploration and appraisal, field development, production operations,
decommissioning, brownfields, legal (standard agreements) and the supply chain.
Health, Safety and Environment
The HSE directorate manages a broad range of safety, environment, skills,
security and EU issues. It works closely with the Step Change in Safety
initiative and OPITO the industry’s skills academy and represents member company
interests to all relevant government departments and regulators, including
Scottish Government, HSE, BERR, DEFRA, SEPA, EA, DTP and CAA.
Economics and Commercial
The economics directorate aims to promote the international competitiveness of
the UK continental shelf by securing a fiscal, economic and regulatory framework
that is conducive to business. It focuses on our industry’s contribution to UK
energy policy and the development of the UK gas industry (offshore and onshore)
in the context of the country’s security of energy supply.
Communications
The communications directorate promotes an environment in which member companies
can better pursue their business objectives by raising awareness and
understanding of industry issues amongst its stakeholders and opinion formers.
Activities include government relations, media relations, membership
communications and events.
Finance and Corporate Services
The finance and corporate services directorate has the responsibility for the
management of all aspects of the organisation’s support functions, specifically
in the provision of financial reporting and accounting control. It also seeks to
provide and maintain efficient HR, IT and office management systems and
processes.
Our subsidiary companies
Oil & Gas UK has three not-for-profit subsidiary companies, two of which (CDA
and Step Change in Safety) have their own membership.
